Every course of treatment starts with a 45-minute initial assessment to assess your symptoms, then recommend the right plan for you and begin treatment. Follow-up appointments are 30 minutes. Your physiotherapist will advise how many appointments you will need but you can stop treatment at any time. *Treatment price does not include specialist pelvic health physiotherapy appointments.

Physiotherapy is a profession whose aim is to encourage and support the return to normal following illness, surgery, disease or trauma. It can be effective in the treatment of a range of muscle, joint and nerve conditions.

Physiotherapists at Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital use a wide range of techniques such as manual therapy and exercise prescription to maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent disease.

We can offer expertise in upper limb and hand rehabilitation, pain management programmes and post-surgical recovery. Many of our therapists are also trained in Pilates, Acupuncture and Joint Manipulation, carrying out thorough biomechanical assessments to enhance and optimise function. We also offer a Mummy MOT service.

We have strong links with many orthopaedic consultants and have an excellent track record in the rehabilitation of upper and lower limb sports injuries. In addition, we can offer pre and post natal treatment and advice.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

At Exeter Hospital, we offer pelvic health physiotherapy for both men and women. Treating conditions such as bladder problems, bowel problems and pelvic pain.

How can I help you improve your health?

Ali graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy. Since then she has worked for 20 years in both the NHS and private sector within the UK.

Ali completed a Master’s degree in Continence and Uro-Gynaecology in 2016 and has a wide range of experience treating a variety of Male and Female pelvic conditions with a particular interest in urinary and faecal incontinence, gynaecological prolapse conditions, pelvic pain and managing an overactive bladder.

In her spare time, Ali spends time with her family and enjoys cooking and sea swimming.

How can I help you improve your health?

Helen graduated from Coventry University in 2006. Since then she has spent the majority of her time working in the musculoskeletal setting in both NHS and private sector in both the UK and Australia.

While overseas Helen also worked with the Australian Sailing team locally in Sydney and abroad at major regattas such as the European and world championships.

Helen has a wide range of experience treating a variety of conditions and has a particular interest in spinal and pelvis injuries and rehabilitation using Pilates.

Helen is also qualified to practice acupuncture and dry needling. In her spare time Helen likes to play soccer, walk and go to the gym.

Gaynor graduated from Queen Elizabeth, Birmingham University with a Graduate Diploma in Physiotherapy.  Since then she has worked in the UK and Europe in the NHS and private sector.

Gaynor has a wide range of experience treating both inpatients and outpatients.  While in Italy Gaynor ran a cardiac rehabilitation program and in the UK she has  treated patients with musculoskeletal, surgical conditions, head injuries and sports injuries.

Gaynor has a particular interest in orthopaedics.  

In her spare time Gaynor enjoys travel, she plays and dances in a local samba band, she enjoys property renovation and is currently completing the South West costal walk.

Antonia graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 2009. Prior to that she gained six years of post-graduate private practice experience in the Midlands. Antonia returned to the South West to join the Nuffield Health Exeter Hospital team in 2015. 

Antonia specialises in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, sporting injuries and post-operative orthopaedic rehabilitation through a manual therapy and exercise prescription approach.

Antonia is also qualified in Pilates and acupuncture for pain relief.

Outside of working life, Antonia enjoys travelling and the outdoors. One of her most memorable adventures was climbing to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest free standing mountain in the world.

Nancy Graduated from Cardiff University in 2008 and has worked predominantly as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist in a variety of settings including the NHS, occupational health, private and charitable sectors.

At the Nuffield Hospital in Exeter, Nancy specialises in post-operative rehabilitation as well as assessing and treating persistent back and neck pain, lower and upper limb dysfunction, and various sports injuries. Her treatment approach is holistic and  personalised to the individual using specific exercise rehabilitation, soft tissue release, acupuncture and spinal mobilisation techniques.

Nancy is also a trained Yoga and Pilates instructor and often incorporates elements of breathing, postural awareness and core strengthening into her rehabilitation plans. 

Alongside her MSK and orthopedic work, Nancy also has experience in pelvic, obstetric and gynecological physiotherapy. This includes pelvic floor rehabilitation for bladder dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse, pregnancy related back and pelvic girdle pain, post-natal pelvic floor and abdominal rehab, and post-operative gynecological rehabilitation.

Nancy is a certified Mummy MOT practitioner. The Mummy MOT is a post-natal detailed physiotherapy assessment of the pelvic and abdominal area. It will check your posture, breathing, tummy gap and pelvic floor strength. You will receive a report of findings on the day and following assessment, an appropriate and safe exercise programme will be prescribed.

Outside of working life Nancy enjoys looking after her 2 energetic children, practicing yoga, gardening, trail running, cycling and swimming.
